This course has better prepared me to work with my students and with my family and friends by helping me realize that I don't have to fix everything for everyone. That has always been my top priority in most of my interactions with people, and it is exhausting. The process of coaching, in some ways, is so simple, and yet it can accomplish more than the most complicated schemes. I really believe this course has changed my life!

I really enjoyed the course - the presenters, the variety of resources used and tools given, the practice time and the way it was organized. I don't think I've ever gotten more out of a training before, so thank you so much! I have much to takeaway and utilize in my teaching. Going along with that, I believe that many of the strategies can be used in everyday good teaching too, so maybe a class on these strategies and the difference between using them in teaching versus as coaching - with discussion - would be beneficial as well. I am always looking for practicality - what can I use NOW? Positive results are ongoing, I believe, and they come from not only what was gained above, but also how the information was presented. I can say how much more interesting a course is when one uses many sources and types of information and activities, and I will always strive to do the same in my classes. What a great example set for those of us transitioning to distance learning!

This course honestly gave me the feeling of utter relief. I have been a teacher for years but never a student coach, which is my new role this fall. I felt uncertain of my role, and not sure how and where to start with my students. This class gave such great tools, advice, and guidance on how to work with my students and also how not to work with them. Really fantastic course.

I think that the main nugget that I gained from this class was learning to really listen to my students. I have a tendency to want to have a conversation and wanting to use my life as an example. This is not about my life; it is about their lives. I am going to start reflecting back to my students about what they are telling me and asking them how they could see these things changing in their lives and the steps that they think that they need to take for these changes to come about.

I felt like the small group sessions helped me to work through the information I had learned in the earlier part of the course. I felt like that concrete practice was invaluable. I really appreciated having three in my group as well. I think it fostered a lot of feedback and discussion. I think I will be journaling what I learned and what some of the key ideas I thought were really impactful. Reflecting on those ideas over the next few weeks as I get ready for my fall class will help me to craft my class in a way that I hope is more meaningful for my student. And then as the class starts reminding myself of those key ideas will help me to change my behavior as a teacher.

This was such a great course. It provided a great deal of clarity in what coaching is all about. It distinguished the differences between coaching, counseling and teaching. I acquired some new and excellent skills that I could apply professionally and personally. I learned to explore deeply about my own biases, which was a bit discomforting, but certainly enlightening. I received some new tools to add to my toolbox.
After many years of doing counseling, my initial reaction was, what could they teach me that I haven't already learned or experienced in 30 years? I took this course because it was recommended by my supervisor. Now, I am so glad I took the course! I acquired new knowledge and learned a different approach to utilize with my students. I not only feel more confident, but I also feel I don't have to carry the students' burdens/issues on my shoulders. I now have more tools to guide students in taking ownership of their learning.
Thank you for this invaluable opportunity, it was time well spent!

Experiential on two levels: Coaching course and as a student in Google Classroom. It gave me insights on what works, what needs more work, and what not to try in my class. Small group coaching sessions were most impactful, as we got to stick our "toe in the water" so to speak and experience the reality of the process and get away from the theoretical for a bit.
The total course had me questioning some of my practices and looking for ways to improve them to the point of assisting the student. Most of us gravitate to teach the way we have been taught. Case in point about not giving advice, but letting the student sort out things for themselves. As far as support, the course was a gem, but should be offered to those who really want to improve themselves. I am glad you are keeping the Workplace group open, so we, as a cohort, can still be in touch with each other, as I really enjoyed some of the teachers I interacted with during the course. As we spend more time coaching our students, sharing our experiences, and reflecting on the outcomes, this newborn community of learners will strive to reach even higher goals and become yet even more successful in our endeavors.
Thank you for a rewarding experience!
