We have received many inquiries about our course. Here are a few of the most frequent. Please submit other questions to peggy@nmdelt.org for addition to this page.
Q: What is the description of the course?
A: This experiential learning course is designed for adult education professionals who work directly with students. Grounded in the International Association of Coaching (IAC) 9 Coaching Masteries and Code of Ethics, the course provides a structured approach to fostering a coaching culture in student interactions.
When adult educators and student support staff employ a coach philosophy, it empowers students to take ownership of their outcomes. Thus, students naturally become more invested in their success.. This approach fosters creative problem-solving, deepens their understanding of how life circumstances impact their opportunities, and strengthens their commitment to achieving their goals. As students embrace responsibility and apply what they’ve learned, they experience meaningful success, build confidence, and gain momentum for continued growth. Along the way, they often discover hidden strengths and abilities they may not have realized they possessed. Additionally, they learn to anticipate and plan for both internal and external obstacles, developing resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges in all areas of their lives.
As adult educators encourage learners to take responsibility for their progress, it also relieves those educators of unnecessary stress and worry. They often experience greater satisfaction and renewed energy in their teaching. A coach approach allows educators to focus on what they do best — delivering impactful instruction. It's a real win-win!
Q; Do I need prior coach training or experience?
A: This foundational course requires no prior training or experience. If you do have previous experience, we welcome your insights to enrich our shared learning environment.
